  • I started my career as an illustrator and painter.  Some of my paintings have been integrated into the advertising and publishing fields, used to illustrate a story or article. Over the years my career turned more toward design and advertising.  I continue to paint and do consignment portraits for clients as well as continuing my graphic design career. I have solved marketing and design problems for firms ranging from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.  I have worked for multiple business segments including retail (McDonalds, Kaufmann’s Department Store); consumer goods (Rolex, Kodak, Westinghouse Electric, Rockwell International); publishing (Glamour, BabyTalk Magazine, Business and Aviation, Scholastic Publications); finance (Credit Suisse, Citigroup, USAlliance, Treasury Department Federal Credit Union); pharmaceuticals, high fashion and others. I’ve used my sense of design to create and oversee integrated campaigns in direct marketing, print, sales promotion, and online— taking the work from conception through final production and distribution. On time and on budget.

  • Many thanks to Art For Progress for creating this forum to allow it's artists/bloggers a platform to discuss their  multi -creative disciplines as well as specific works of art . I've been a member/artist of AFP for a long time and have happily witnessed their growth over their ten years! As a NYC independent filmmaker for 20 years, I'm glad they asked me to blog about film.  Being new to blogging, I was at first excited then nervous. This was due to the many different directions I could take. So I feel the best way to start is from my own experience in directing my first full length feature film entitled "H.O.M.E." Not to get into my filmography/resume too much but I've been writing, producing and directing short films for 20 years. I've worked in the industry on production crews for most of that span which also includes many various other roles I've played whether in post production, programming  or even assisting in running film festivals! Let's just say instead of getting the "ol feet wet" I jumped into the pool and have been swimming ever since. In recent years, I'd been focusing more on my own personal projects to cultivate that "dream career" of being an artist/filmmaker in NYC. Well everyone knows by now how difficult that can be and so you better know how to "hustle" in order to juggle your creative aspirations with the reality of living in the most  artistically competitive places on earth.  With the personal projects, i.e. short films, I was able to hone in [...]
  • Comedy writer/mosaic artist designing unique, pique assiette functional art: vases, picture frames, planters, kitchen caddies. Perhaps the most unusual is my Breaking News Series, commenting on America's current political, economic and social crises with photos embedded in mosaic, done on cremation urns. I also have a site dedicated to personalized mosaic urns for people and pets.  For serious urns, please visit my new Personalized Urns website.
  • Having something unique makes it more special, so after studying pique assiette (translates to “stolen from the plate”), I developed a style of my own, transforming ordinary, household objects — vases, picture frames, kitchen caddies, lamps, etc. — into one of a kind, truly original decorative art. I break plates I love, often those with interesting images and words. To personalize the work and create a biographical component, I enjoy including photos and text with the mosaic. A writer, I work in the media and in mixed media, using both to tell a story. Tiles, glass gems and other surprises are the punctuation. I invite you to commission me so I can execute your creative vision. The process inspires new ideas and keeps the work fresh. I am particularly gratified by those who return each time they want a gift to celebrate a wedding, new baby or any occasion. My background in comedy writing explains why I may be the only one doing satirical mosaics. Please look at the “Breaking News” Series, edgy pieces that comment on America’s current crises — from politicians involved in sex scandals to Wall Street swindlers — fittingly done on cremation urns. Go to Limited Editions and look for faces you recognize. “Is The Right Right?” showing right wing politicians and pundits among red, white and blue shards with American flag images, was selected by the highly competitive Brooklyn Waterfront Arts Coalition Wide Open Exhibition.
