  • Sylvia Petra Broubalow was born on an Army base and considers herself from nowhere in particular although her parents are from NYC. She traveled most of her childhood and this reflects in her ability to adapt to any situation life throws at her. She did not start painting until 2006 when she became ill. She had no idea she could even paint. She prefers acrylic to other mediums and also loves mixed media. She decided to change her life from Corporate America and go back to school and get a degree in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts. She commutes from Bethlehem, PA and would give anything to live in NYC. She has pushed her work around enough in her area and decided its time to move on to NYC and promote her work. She has had 2 solo exhibitions, quite a few group shows, been featured in The Township Times Newspaper, AbsouteArts.com feature artist, WorldWideArtResources.com feature artist, has been in quite a few juried shows, several galleries, has had several commissions, one collection in the Canary Islands from Saatchi Gallery online, and was the apprentice artist on the Mural for the city of Easton, PA.
  • It is not a question of what I do, but who I am… I began painting in 2006. I just picked up a paintbrush and started painting with acrylics. I work mostly with acrylics and sometimes with watercolor. I love working with bright bold colors and lines. I generally work on only one or two paintings at a time and I choose my subjects by what delights and captures my imagination. I want my work to tell a story, but not necessarily the same story to every person. Painting is Gods gift and my desire is to use it to bring joy to others. My ultimate satisfaction comes from continually inventing and improving myself. I am a full time Fine Arts student at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and would like to own my own business as well teach art in my studio. On a personal note, I am single and I enjoy painting, drawing, listening to music, gardening, camping, and spending time with my family and friends.
