Alex is a continuing student of philosophy and emerging artist. He seeks to address contemporary social issues and philosophical questions through symbolism in dynamic visual works.
Philosophical underpinnings are tied to Phenomenology, Existentialism, Post-, and Anti-Post-Modern thinkers. Alex has also begun to explore mythical symbolisms.
The evolution of Alex's work follows from an early introduction to Art History, Art Historical references in the works are found in the clavicle, harkening back to Gothic representations of the skull, connected to our understanding of human mortality. Hearts, from Keith Herring, representing an emotional and communal offering. The underside of feet, turned into the over the shoulder view of figures, referencing the irreverence of the Impressionists. Among other more personal stories.
Although much of the work illustrates concepts in the abstract, there are also layers of meaning that are at once personal and then again more thematic, sometimes not signifying the same story in any given image, and sometimes coinciding with those general themes.
Another philosophical feature of Alex's work is found in the geometries of the icosahedron or hypercube, each instantiation or general form representing another view of our social and physical realities.
Alex seeks to continue exploring these themes, while also remaining politically prescient. For a fuller explanation of the philosophical tones of his work, feel free to inquire for[...]

ART VERSUS SCIENCE - THE COLOUR FASCINATION
Self-taught 33yo contemporary artist Leni Kae (dip Colour Therapy) from Sydney Australia has painted since age 9. She has a very holistic perspective on art and a deep consideration for how structure and semiotics in art can shape viewer's emotional experience. What evolved was a natural discovery of the unbreakable link between art and science.
The Australian contemporary artist and trained colour specialist integrates semiotics of shape, composition and colour psychology to produce artworks with powerful subconscious and sensory triggers, or what she refers to as "Energy Art".
"Leni Kae's works vibrantly interact with viewers, prompting sensory awakening, eliciting positive memories, and inviting self evaluation."
Colour is a particular fascination of the artist; the powerful effects of color and semiotics, which together can alter moods, trigger hormonal reactions, and awaken dormant memories, are vital to a dually artistic and scientific mission. Her works vibrantly interact with viewers, prompting sensory awakening, eliciting positive memories, and inviting self evaluation. Line work is also a distinctive feature in Kae's artwork, with the artist saying they are "representative of waves of our thoughts, reaching out like energetic extensions of the soul or spirit of the work".

THE SPIRIT OF UNITY:
There is without doubt to me a beauty that comes from the spirit of unity, the idea that although we exist as individuals, we are inherently bound by uniting qualities such as human emotion, senses, experience, and dreams. My inspiration as an artist stems greatly from this idea. I like to focus on commonalities of our existence; the colour that excites us, and the dream and emotion that unite us.
A subconscious 'pull' to a work of art can have the power to expose what our inner consciousness desires at that moment; what we need to liberate subconscious emotion, memory or thought in order to heighten our individual potential. We may be drawn to a blue and openly flowing piece of art for example because it reminds us of the relaxing openness of the ocean, and at that time we might desire reflection or peacefulness. It has the power to awaken us and our emotions, and I love this possibility in art. My artistic expression is best summarised by the statement:
"Emotion, memory, dreams that have been hidden are given permission to to be free."
FASCINATED BY COLOUR & SYMBOLISM:
Colour, symbolism and abstraction is integral to my intention as an artist. Integrating colour psychology and the semiotics of design, as well as cultural symbolism means that triggers can be created to expose memories or emotions.
Abstraction is also applied as a m[...]
